Slime

What is going on in the kitchen? Let's take a peek...

It's Anne Marie! And she is really concentrating, because she is making SLIME! Slime is kind of like Silly Putty, but softer and prettier.

Among the pre-teens around here, making your own slime is all the rage. The girls even take it to school with them.

Meanwhile, Jazz got ahold of the goofy glasses.

There are many different recipes for slime, all different colors and even clear. But it is NOT slimy! It feels smooth, puffy, and soft.

The yellow one is even edible!

Meanwhile, the little ones decided to make Cootie Bugs. The bugs watched silently while the slime was made.

“Ever since we crawled out of that primordial slime, that's been our unifying cry, "More light."  Sunlight.  Torchlight.  Candlelight.  Neon, incandescent lights… “

The Stranger

There were lots of Canada Geese swimming around on the local pond.

And there was a stranger among them! See how his tail forms a black X?

The geese were checking him out.

They decided that he was very different from them, so quite a few decided to shun him by leaving the pond and going across the street.

Too bad they didn't know how special he is. He is a Snow Goose! And he had come a long way.

But the good part is that he now had the pond almost all to himself. Swim on, little buddy.

The snowbird sings the song he always sings
And speaks to me of flowers
That will bloom again in spring

So, little snowbird, take me with you when you go
To that land of gentle breezes where the peaceful waters flow

Gambling Granddaughters

The girls love it when we take them to the Go Kart track. And at the track, they have an arcade!

I was really looking forward to introducing them to Pac Man, Frogger, and Space Invaders. Turns out there are almost NO pinball machines anymore. I was woefully behind the times!!

Instead, they had all different kinds of other games. When you won, you got tickets that you could turn into candy and trinkets. They LOVED it! They went nuts! But I was very sad about no pinball!

Well, it is not actually gambling, because they were not betting on anything. But still...

The Claw Game is a favorite...like they have in the store foyers. Can you see me standing behind Anne Marie?

So for now, just call me the Gamblin' Granny. And I'm O.K. with that as long as they give me some of their candy.

“Don’t gamble on the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, hocking your house against a lucky chance. The time will come when you have to pay up; you’ll be left with nothing but the shirt on your back.”

Global Greetings

Phil and I were at a glass blowing place, and they had all these beautiful blown glass globes. Of  course, we couldn't resist having some fun with them.

“In the same way, we can see and understand only a little about God now, as if we were peering at his reflection in a poor mirror; but someday we are going to see him in his completeness, face-to-face. Now all that I know is hazy and blurred, but then I will see everything clearly, just as clearly as God sees into my heart right now.”
