Two Better Than One?

My daughter-in-law threw her back out about a week ago, and was in a lot of pain. And she told me that she had taken two different pain killers at the same time. This concerned me, and I told her she maybe shouldn’t do that. She replied that the two drugs were so similar, it was probably alright. Who knows? Only a doctor. Sometimes if you use two things, it’s doubly better. But other times, it makes neither work and they cancel each other out. And I’m not just talking about drugs. You can follow different authors, and different T.V. shows, but what about religion? Have you ever heard some religions or philosophies say “You can follow us and still be a Christian”? I’m hearing that more and more lately. Some people think they can be doubly sure if they follow or study several things. They are nervous about what is really right. Some have the philosophy of “All roads lead to the same place.” With this view, they win no matter what they believe. Some take the searcher’s path and want to remain open minded. They are afraid others will accuse them of being narrow minded and not open to new ideas. Does God want watered down Christianity, or half hearted followers? I think not. Here’s what he says in Acts 4:12. “There is no other name under Heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” When we are in pain and need some belief or someone to turn to, there is only one ever-present help, and that is our great healer, Jesus, who raised even dead people, and returned from the grave himself. Exodus 20:5 says “I ,the Lord your God, am a jealous God. Deut. 6:5 says “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”
