Feathers Will Fly

Feathers have been flying around here, they are everywhere!!! They constantly come out of our throw pillows, and out of the seams of Phil's big winter coat. When he gets in the car, he almost disappears behind a cloud of feathers. We also use them in crafts for the kids from time to time. These are just a few of the pictures I snapped of feathers laying around. Ella is holding one she found on the floor, and our granddaughter Anne is wearing a feather stole her mom made, that picture was taken by her mom. When I was a little girl, I did a very naughty thing. We had a large satin burgundy comforter on the bed, and it was stuffed with feathers. One day, I got the scissors and cut tiny slits all over the top of it, then jumped up and down on it and watched as it made snow. To this day, I can't remember what my punishment was, perhaps I have blocked it out of my mind. But I still remember that snow of feathers coming down all over me and the bed. I was covered in feathers.

"He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
Psalm 91:4

Who?

I have always loved owls, and have managed to amass quite a few things with their image. Here are a few of my latest. Aren't these mitts and scarf just adorable? Do you see the owls on the mitts, their eyes and feet? I also like that they will keep my hands warm while freeing my fingers to snap the camera! My friend Stephanie, at Hookin', Knittin & Livin' made them. She has a lovely blog that features the things she has made from time to time. Her sense of color is amazing! Then last night I couldn't resist this adorable owl timer. It was marked way down at an extended Black Friday sale. And finally, something I have had for awhile, my owl carving made from a tree trunk. See the tree rings on the top in the last picture? At night, I can hear the owls calling, but can never see them. They are asking who, who who??? Here's the most important WHO ever asked!

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

Not Scared

There are still plenty of scarecrows around here. You have never seen scarecrows till you have been around our neighborhood! Every block seems to have several, plus most of the public buildings. But here I have only included ones I think are different or are my favorites. Notice the scarecrow face on the rake in picture 5? Which one is your favorite? Of course they are just for decoration, they do not scare the birds at all. And here is something we don't have to be scared of, either.

"Since the children are made of flesh and blood, it's logical that the Savior took on flesh and blood in order to rescue them by his death. By embracing death, taking it into himself, he destroyed the Devil's hold on death and freed all who cower through life, scared to death of death."

A Place In The Sun

"Don't cry when the sun is gone, because the tears won't let you see the stars."
Violeta Parra

I took these pictures earlier this year, in the summer, I believe. My place in the sun was breathtaking, and even after it set, I wanted to stay.

"He puts poor people on their feet again; he re-kindles burned-out lives with fresh hope, restoring dignity and respect to their lives-a place in the sun! For the very structures of the earth are God's; he has laid out his operations on a firm foundation."
1 Samuel 2

As usual, I'm taking Monday off the computer, see you all on Tuesday!

Black Friday

Today, we decided to go to the Black Friday doorbusters at midnight, maybe not the best idea! After an afternoon nap, we felt we were ready! The line was clean across the shopping center, necessitating police cars and uniformed officers standing at the door to prevent trampling. After getting in, the checkout lines snaked all the way around the store.  After all this, they didn't even have what we wanted.  After getting to bed around three A.M, we woke up and went grocery shopping, a nice surprise. This is what we should do every black Friday, because the grocery store was deserted, as you can see by my pictures. They had re-stocked with goodies and we had the whole place to ourselves! Now THIS was more like it!!!  Then we spent the rest of the day Christmas shopping, and there were still some good deals to be had. We ended up at KFC by 8:30, exhausted and hungry. It was deserted, too! Here is a reflection of us with the Colonel, and Phil enjoying his chicken. Actually, the best parts of the day were when we DIDN'T go along with the crowd!

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will."
Romans 12:2

Shout To The Lord

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Here are some images from our day, we spent it with our family at the home of my daughter-in-law's family. We had a wonderful big meal at a beautiful table, then our granddaughter and her cousin got on "stage" (the hearth) and put on a show with lots of singing and dancing. The show ended with a sweet kiss. Isn't the newest baby in the family cute? On my next post I'll show you what we were up to the rest of the day, which involved the police! And no, we were not chased again, we're innocent!

"Sing to God a thanksgiving hymn,
play music on your instruments to God...

He's not impressed with horsepower; the size of our muscles means little to him.
Those who fear God get God's attention; they can depend on his strength."

Giving Thanks

Wishing all my blog friends a blessed Thanksgiving, I am thankful for YOU! And wishing you have even more to be thankful for next year.

"Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations."

A Good Neighbor
