The poor geese that Phil scared away in my last post. If they would have stuck around, this is what they would have flown into.
“If you are generous with the hungry and start giving
yourselves to the down-and-out, your lives will begin to glow in the darkness,
your shadowed lives will be bathed in sunlight.
I will always show you where to go.”
These are Canadian Geese in their field. Each evening they line up and wait an hour or so until the exact moment the sun sets, then the leader gives the signal and they take off, honking encouragement to each other.
But someone else shares this field, too. The remote controlled glider group, of which Phil is a member. And this evening Phil has come to fly his plane.
Well, of course this really upsets the geese, resulting in a premature flight that is hurried and flustered.
Can you see Phil's plane that I highlighted, it is right behind the poor geese...
I watched as they flew into the blue mountains...
And finally formed a hurried V, honking all the while. Sorry to take over your field, buddies!
flock of geese leave their lake and take wing, turning to poems in the sky.
“Was it through your know-how that the hawk
learned to fly, soaring effortlessly on thermal updrafts? Did you command the
eagle’s flight, and teach her to build her nest in the heights, Perfectly at
home on the high cliff face, invulnerable on pinnacle and crag?”
Awhile back, we had Ella for the afternoon and the weather was very bad, so this is what we did in the house. She got the "catting pole" (get it...fishing pole, and catting pole) and played with the cats.
Then she declared that Simba looks like a "big fat hamster". What do YOU think?
So we got the iPad and she drew a picture of Simba wearing a blue top hat.
After that, she stacked the games in a tower to choose which one to play.
And then we made bracelets. It was the best bad weather day I have ever had.
Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine. ~ Anthony J. D'Angelo
“We don’t yet see things clearly.
We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before
the weather clears and the sun
shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us,
knowing him directly just as he knows us!”
I am terrified of spiders! I got this from my mom and her mom before her. I took this picture of a web...
And then the spider came out! It was on the other side of the door, but still...
Then a month or so ago, one of these tried to crawl up my lawn chair!! I thought it was just a granddaddy long legs, but Phil said no! And of course my two words upon seeing ANY spider are KILL IT! More and more are coming into the house now that fall is here.
That's why I am not at all fond of these flowers. They are called Spider Flowers, because they look spidery, and are blooming now. I show the current batches each year. They look spindly, and the way the really skinny leaves hang down remind me of spider legs. They give me the creeps! As you can see from my shadow, I am standing a respectable distance away!
Their real name is Cleome and their meaning is "come away with me". It would be so romantic if they weren't so creepy! I do not want ANY spider to come away with me, so you can believe me that I will never touch one of these!

My foot is still in the process of healing. One doctor says it will not get better, the other doctor says it will. So outside, it is the wheelchair. Inside, it has been the walker. But it seems I have to fight to get the walker away from the cats! They have chosen it as their favorite seat and mode of transport. When I wheel it, I usually have a cat on it enjoying the ride! They love sitting on it and also being given rides. Who knew! I feel like a new mommy giving her babies stroller rides!
“…God’s holy day as a celebration,
If you honor it by refusing ‘business as usual,’ making money, running here and
there— Then you’ll be free to enjoy God! Oh, I’ll make you ride high and soar above it all. I’ll
make you feast on the inheritance of your ancestor Jacob.” Yes! God says so!”
