An Uncommon Beauty

I have always thought that thistles are beautiful in their own way. A way that is tough, and survives to create a hard beauty. But have you ever wondered what becomes of them in the fall? Any guesses? I will show you on my next post! This is the first fall I have noticed them dying, and I was quite surprised.

I had a freak accident with my lap desk tonight, so will be unable to visit for the next few days, until the new one comes in the mail. Freak Accident is becoming my middle name!

“All the trees of the forest will join the procession, exuberant with applause. No more thistles, but giant sequoias, no more thorn bushes, but stately pines— Monuments to me, to God, living and lasting evidence of God.”

Isaiah 55

Your photos of the thistle are extraordinary. I do know they go to seed and die off only to return the next season.

Sorry to hear about your 'freak accident'....will look for your return.

Hi Ginny, Yes, Thistles are often quite beautiful. Sorry you have had a mishap with your lap desk. Have a really great day today!

Good Morning Ginny!! I think thistles have much beauty.....but, they are not very well liked around here. One plant can cause a lot of havoc for farmers. Hope you enjoy a fabulous weekend...

They are pretty. I like the second shot - where the flower is standing up in front of the background of the same color. Have a wonderful weekend.

The flowers are indeed pretty, but I have to confess that we dig them up as soon as they appear. They are very invasive. Sorry about the accident. Hope all is well and you're back online in short order. Have a great weekend!

Have not seen those in a long time. Look forward to what happens next. Computers are nice when they work, but the pits otherwise. They would have made a very pretty Pink Saturday showing.
