Clapping

The book of Isaiah speaks of trees clapping their hands. To me, this is exactly what these trees are doing. They are shouting in glorious colors. I took these pictures only about a month ago. They are bare now, and silent.

“You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.

The Night Before Thanksgiving

Overnight we had SNOW! It is still snowing now, And accumulating to several inches. Now that evening is here, there is ICE!

Simba and Sunny have spent most of the day looking at the snow through the windows and doors.

Sunny does not like the snow or the early darkness. He misses his sunny patches on the floor. But he is overjoyed by the occasional bird flying by.

When they weren't watching the snow, the cats were running up and down the basement with Phil to bring the Christmas decorations up!

We plan on being stuck in the house till Friday. We all wish every one of you a wonderful and warm thanksgiving.

“Give thanks to God—he is good and his love never quits.”

Hard Headed

Look who paid us a visit! A Pileated Woodpecker! Pileated means "having a crest", and they are the biggest woodpeckers in the country. They drill huge rectangular holes in trees and have taken down small trees and even telephone poles! You would think they have headaches from the constant drumming on trees, but their skulls are specially made for it. You might say they are hard headed! I have turned some of the pictures sideways so you can get a better look.

“At once, Moses fell to the ground and worshiped, saying, “Please, O Master, if you see anything good in me, please Master, travel with us, hard-headed as these people are. Forgive our iniquity and sin. Own us, possess us.”

The Return Of The Lobster Mailbox

Guess who we have been driving by lately? Our old friend the Lobster Mailbox! I posted him about four or five years ago, and now he wants to return for an encore. He sits on the side of a very busy highway and waits for mail. I wonder if he will sit here forever, because lobsters can live for a hundred years!

“When Methuselah was 187 years old, he had Lamech. After he had Lamech,he lived another 782 years. Methuselah lived a total of 969 years. And he died.”

The Play & The Funeral

We went to Anne's play tonight. It was about taking care of the earth. Her singing solo was beautiful. We stayed for a couple pictures, then ran to the funeral. When we got there it was over, and people were heading into the fellowship Hall for visitation and food. We took a plate and sat down to chat with friends. I'm so glad I went to see Anne, and so sorry I missed the actual funeral. Such is life. Thank you all SO very much for your comments of support, it means a lot to me. So here are the pictures fresh off the camera card!  You can see how happy she was that we came!

A Very Bad Choice, Help.

HELP! My friends funeral is tomorrow evening. Both the family night and the funeral are combined into one big service. We made plans to go, and to bring a friend home with us. THEN my granddaughter told me she was chosen to be the LEAD singer in a play. She has never sung before, and now she is doing a solo. She tried out and was chosen from the WHOLE school. Her mom told her we could not go. I couldn't STAND it. Phil and I talked, and we called her back and told her we would BE there. We will leave as soon as she has her solo, and try to be at the last part of the funeral service. I HATE this!! I will miss one last tribute to my good friend. I have been in tears for the last day. Tell me what you would have done, tell me SOMETHING. I miss you all and will return very soon, but my nerves are shattered. LOVE to you all...

A Short Break

A couple days ago, one of my best friends died. It was sudden and way too soon. She was my age. The funeral will be Thursday evening. Also, the house is a huge mess, I need to do some serious straightening up and cleaning before the holidays. So, I will be taking off for a couple days to get my thoughts and my house in order. See you soon, I will miss all of you!!

Judge With Me

The other day, we came across a pumpkin carving contest! Both kids and adults did the carving. SO, which one is your favorite? The first two two are howling wolves.

Here are a some that are more pumpkins carved on the pumpkins.

Here are some wild and imaginative ones.

I will vote for the kitty in the last picture. I don't know who won, I was almost trampled by the crowd, so I made my getaway as soon as I snapped them!

Struck!

What do you think this is? It is called a Fulgurite, and it belongs to me. My friend bought it on eBay and gave it to me. A Fulgurite is the result of lightening striking sand. The lightening rises the sand into a whirlwind and makes it into hollow tube, which hardens later. It is basically petrified sand. Fulgur is Latin for thunderbolt. They are fragile, and very light and airy. Pretty cool, huh?

I saw this man on T.V. who could stick his hand in lightening while wearing a special glove that would deflect it. Then he put on a special helmet that protected him from lightening striking his head. I took these pictures from T.V.

And I saw these for sale at a Science Museum!

Have you ever been shocked or struck by lightening?

“He lets loose his lightnings from horizon to horizon, lighting up the earth from pole to pole. In their wake, the thunder echoes his voice, powerful and majestic.”

Nervous At Hobby Lobby

Next to our parked car at Hobby Lobby, we spotted these two cuties. They were clearly nervous and shaky. But then, when is a Chihuahua not ...
