The Wheel

A couple weeks ago we were driving, and I saw something odd out of the corner of my eye. It was something in a yard, way behind a blue windmill.

I asked Phil to turn around, and we saw it was a Ferris Wheel! The house had a circular driveway, so we drove in.

There was an elderly man standing at the front door waving at us, so we drove over. I told him how much we loved the Ferris Wheel, and asked if it was for his grandchildren. No, it was not. The man was holding up a partially paralyzed arm because he was a stroke victim. He told us he had made this himself  to keep busy after his stroke. Though it did not actually work, he had put lights on it for after dark. He said when he had worked, he made all kinds of things. It was hard for him to talk and I could not understand where he had worked. But I was amazed that he had made this with only one working hand. And he had put it in the yard for all to enjoy.

“As I watched the four creatures, I saw something that looked like a wheel on the ground beside each of the four-faced creatures. This is what the wheels looked like: They were identical wheels, sparkling like diamonds in the sun. It looked like they were wheels within wheels, like a gyroscope.”

That is amazing that he made that after having a stroke...I bet if he had made it before it would work.

this is a good post, Ginny.

And to think there are so many able bodies person around who would rather beg or steal to "live", while this old gentlemen who have only one useable hand can do so good.

Wow! you have a very creative community there. The things you post are very interesting. Thank God, this man does not just give up, but he continues to keep himself busy and occupied. He did a very good job with only one able hand.

Wow, that is amazing! It's great the gentleman had a mental strength to work on such thing after having a stroke. I bet the wheel brightens the heart of everyone who sees it!

I never saw a ferris wheel on a driveway before. It looks cute though. And I love the drawings on the wheel too, especially the kitty.
