The Sky's The Limit

I thought it was time to put together some of my favorite sky photos. Some were posted earlier, and some are new. I'll start with the birds. I love catching them in my lens when they happen to fly past.

Then there are the skies that look painted or on fire.

Of course I always love snapping the moon.

I love going out to photograph the sunsets!

I've looked at clouds from both sides now.

And of course, the ever present jet trails.

Do you have a favorite?

Venus & Jupiter

On Saturday night an extraordinary thing happened. Venus and Jupiter did a dance, so to speak. They passed and almost touched. They will not be this close again until 2065. So of course I was out waiting with my camera.

Here is a picture I got of Jupiter about a year ago. It looks the same as this year, like a pizza! Can you see the crust edges?

I'm going for a snack now.

“Look up into the heavens! Who created all these stars? As a shepherd leads his sheep, calling each by its pet name, and counts them to see that none are lost or strayed, so God does with stars and planets!”

A Kaleidoscope

Now to what I saw in the Mimosa. A huge kaleidoscope! Did you know that kaleidoscope is the word for a group of butterflies? There must have been hundreds, swarming the tree. Each one would land on a blossom for only seconds, then flit away. This left me no time to focus the camera! So I did the best I could. I could not get the entire group because they were up so high in the tree, with the blinding sun.

“I ate the fruit and honey, I drank the nectar and wine. Celebrate with me, friends! Raise your glasses—“To life! To love!”

Mimosa

There are quite a few Mimosas around here. One is near McDonalds, and it smells wonderful when we eat there. Mimosas are also called Sensitive Trees, because touching the leaves makes them curl up! But this post and the next one are really about whet we found IN the Mimosa. Something I had never seen in my life! You will see in my next post!

“Be gentle with one another, sensitive. Forgive one another as quickly and thoroughly as God in Christ forgave you.”

Rust Never Sleeps

We came across this old rusted out V.W. Beetle. It had been re purposed as a planter! It kinda looks like the car is one with nature!

“They’ll rebuild the old ruins, raise a new city out of the wreckage. They’ll start over on the ruined cities, take the rubble left behind and make it new.”

The Persian Ceiling

This is Dale Chihuly's Persian Ceiling, from an exhibit at the Richmond Art Museum. The ceiling is just a small part of the beauty this man creates! The glass pieces are resting on a flat glass pane that is lit from above. There are over a thousand pieces of glass! So come, let's start the tour. Look up!

Back down on the floor, here is the tour, looking up. I love the colorful reflections on the walls.

“The Inner Sanctuary within The TempleEverywhere you looked there was pure gold: gold chains strung in front of the gold-plated Inner Sanctuary—gold everywhere—walls, ceiling, floor, and Altar.” Dazzling!

Party On!

A few blocks from us is a Party & Paper Store. It was a very plain building that no one would notice. Until they did this!

.They also painted jungle animals all over the back wall, which faces McDonalds.

Here is the side of the building. Which doesn't really seem the same theme.

And here is the front.

Makes it fun to eat at McDonalds.

Forsythia!

The Forsythia are blooming now, and seem to scream joy and sunshine. Here are ones in town. This is our little one in the front yard. This ...
