The Corn

We have a lot of corn fields around here. They are everywhere. And right now, the corn is getting high! Time for all the corn roasts to begin! Here are our mountains and corn fields.

Here is Anne Marie one of the first times she ever tried corn on the cob.

“You see farmers do this all the time, waiting for their valuable crops to mature, patiently letting the rain do its slow but sure work. Be patient like that. Stay steady and strong. The Master could arrive at any time.”

In Love

Phil & I are in LOVE. Can you find us? We are in three pictures.

“People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed ...”

“Today know this: God, your God, is crossing the river ahead of you—he’s a consuming fire.”
Deuteronomy 9

We took these pictures in the city of Charlottesville yesterday.

“Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other.”

More Wild Horses

A couple weeks ago, we passed a sign for a horse show. So we turned into the road and watched a bit.

As we were leaving, we passed a huge fenced-in pasture. There were two horses in it.

The horses were beautifully groomed, and were even wearing coats. Phi said they were likely very expensive show horses, or race horses.  They came right up to me and stuck their heads over the fence. So for the first time, I petted a horse!

They were so friendly to me that I was beginning to think that I was The Horse Whisperer or something. Until Phil informed me that they were looking for food. I should have known!

The eyes of the young man were opened and he saw. A wonder! The whole mountainside full of horses and chariots of fire surrounding Elisha!”

Wild Horses

You see, we have this tall plant in our tiny flower bed.

The plant has grown quite tall. In fact, it is almost as tall as me now. And there are a few shorter ones beside it. We have been waiting each day for it to bloom!

And then we found out that is a weed by the name of Horseweed! It can get over 10 feet tall. Phil can't pull them out, so they will all have to be dug up or cut down. I may have wanted to ride wild horses a long time ago, but I sure don't want to grow them.

“And so it happened. They were walking along and talking. Suddenly a chariot and horses of fire came between them and Elijah went up in a whirlwind to heaven.”

Going, Going, Gone

“Enoch walked steadily with God. And then one day he was simply gone: God took him.”

The Containers

These are some unusual planting containers I have seen.

These next ones are all in front of a local barber shop.

“…we can’t round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit!”

The Vases

We saw these vases at a Dale Chihuly show in Richmond. I knew that he made enormous glass objects, so these small vases were a delightful surprise. It looks like his theme was putting one inside the other. Kind of a vase for a vase.

“Jesus took Peter, James, and John and led them up a high mountain. His appearance changed from the inside out, right before their eyes. His clothes shimmered, glistening white, whiter than any bleach could make them.

Eye Of The Tiger

The Tiger Lilies are blooming! Well, not in our yard, but all around town. I love them.

“You can tame a tiger, but you can’t tame a tongue—it’s never been done.”

Our Lawn

I always look forward to the Dandelions. They look like spots of sunshine in the yard after a dreary winter. We have quite a lot. I found t...
